Meet the Team: Georgia Chevalier, Recruitment Consultant

< Back to blog

Welcome back to our Meet the Team series. We started this series so our consultants can share their advice to help active candidates during these challenging times. Throughout these blog posts, you will also find out more about our consultants, the sectors they work in and their individual working from home tips.

Next in our series, we spoke to Georgia Chevalier, who joined Devonshire as a Recruitment Consultant in January 2020.

Tell us a bit about yourself, what do you do at Devonshire?

I have been at Devonshire for nearly a year after graduating university last year with a Modern Languages degree. I’ve previously worked in sales and client-facing roles and I’m passionate about building great relationships with both clients and candidates, so Devonshire has really allowed me to put my experience and strong skillset into practice.

Explain a bit more about the sectors and the types of roles you recruit for?

Since I have started at Devonshire, I have mainly worked on roles within Presentation Graphics and Business Support, from entry level through to management roles. I’ve been working on anything from a Print Operator through to an Operations Manager, plus volume recruitment projects, so I really have had lots of experience with a range of different clients.

In your opinion, what makes a candidate stand out from the crowd?

I would say a candidate immediately stands out when they make a good first impression in an initial phone call. Someone who articulates themselves well and who can communicate their strengths verbally but also on their CV ticks a big box for me.

What has it been like for you to work remotely shortly after starting your new role at Devonshire?

It was definitely different and very unexpected to work from home so soon after joining Devonshire. I was only in the office for about 8 weeks before working full-time from home and I still am to this day. It’s now become part of my daily routine and I am definitely embracing not having to worry about what train I need to catch!

Do you have any advice for people who are starting a new role remotely?

My advice would be that you should try and establish a routine as soon as you can. It’s also a good idea to set up a designated work area that you can walk away from when you have finished work. This has definitely helped me as it can be so hard to leave a ‘virtual office’ and stop working when you are already at home.

Finally, what’s your top tip for working from home?

To-do lists! They help to keep you on track and the biggest feeling of achievement is ticking everything off on your to-do list at the end of the day.
