We are looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to oversee and enhance workplace safety in our print production facilities based at our Paragon Sunderland site.
As the Health & Safety Advisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, fostering a strong safety culture, and mitigating risks associated with printing operations, including machinery, chemical handling, and workplace ergonomics.
Main responsibilities:
- HSE Compliance & Policy Implementation: Ensure adherence to OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and other relevant HSE regulations.
- Risk Assessments & Audits: Conduct site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
- Incident Investigation & Reporting: Investigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and environmental incidents, ensuring root causes are identified and preventative actions are taken.
- Training & Awareness: Develop and deliver HSE training programs for staff, covering topics like chemical safety, manual handling, and fire prevention.
- Emergency Preparedness: Establish and maintain emergency response plans, including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and first aid readiness.
- Environmental Compliance: Monitor waste management, air quality, and hazardous material handling in accordance with environmental standards.
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: Work with production teams to integrate HSE best practices into daily operations and drive a safety-first culture.
Required experience & skills:
- HSE Qualification (NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent)
- Experience in the print production or manufacturing industry is desirable
- Strong knowledge of machinery safety, chemical handling, and PPE requirements
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and safety training
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with employees at all levels
- Knowledge of ISO standards and environmental management systems
This is a permanent role working 35 Hours per week: Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:00pm
