We are looking for an Azure Data Consultant / Lead Cloud & Data Consultant Engineer to join Paragon on a 3-month fixed-term contract.
As the Azure Data Consultant / Lead Cloud & Data Consultant, you will drive complex, integration-heavy backend and data platform initiatives across Paragon’s Cloud & Data Platforms practice.
This is a senior, consultative position suited to someone who can work closely with end clients to shape, define and refine solutions, rather than simply deliver against a fixed specification. The role includes leading the design and delivery of modern cloud and data solutions across Azure and AWS, including initiatives where AI forms part of the solution outcome.
You will play a key role in designing platforms that make data agent-consumable for natural language analytics, as well as embedding AI agents into pipelines for extraction, enrichment and analysis. Operating with substantial autonomy under general direction, you will provide architectural leadership, technical strategy and client-facing consultancy across complex engagements.
Core Objectives
- Work directly with end clients to define, shape and refine cloud and data solutions.
- Lead solution design by translating business requirements into scalable technical approaches.
- Own architecture and technical strategy for complex, integration-heavy backend and data solutions across Azure and/or AWS.
- Define how and where non-deterministic AI capabilities can be safely integrated into deterministic backend processes and data pipelines.
- Support and lead client projects with a high degree of ownership, working under broad guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead client discovery, scoping and solution-definition workshops.
- Translate client business challenges into clear technical architectures and delivery plans.
- Own end-to-end architecture for complex backend, integration and data platform solutions.
- Design cloud-native data solutions across Azure and/or AWS.
- Architect solutions that make data accessible to AI agents for natural language analytics, including semantic layers and agent-facing data contracts.
- Design and deliver solutions that embed AI agents into pipelines for extraction, transformation and analysis.
- Select and configure appropriate agent harnesses and supporting tooling.
- Define safe integration patterns for non-deterministic AI steps within deterministic systems and pipelines.
- Establish guardrails, validation controls and fallback strategies for AI-enabled workflows.
- Provide technical leadership across projects, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure and aligned to client goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams and client stakeholders throughout delivery.
Required Skills and Experience
You will be a technically strong consultant who combines deep cloud and data engineering expertise with excellent client-facing and solution-shaping skills. You will be comfortable owning architecture, leading discovery conversations, and guiding clients through complex technology decisions, particularly where data platforms, backend systems and AI-enabled capabilities intersect.
- Strong experience designing and delivering cloud, backend and data platform solutions.
- Proven expertise in Azure and/or AWS architecture.
- Experience leading integration-heavy technical projects.
- Strong consultative background, with the ability to engage directly with clients and shape requirements.
- Experience defining technical strategy and architecture for complex data-driven solutions.
- Understanding of how to embed AI/agent-based capabilities into enterprise data and backend workflows.
- Knowledge of safe implementation approaches for non-deterministic AI within structured, reliable systems.
- Ability to create robust validation, governance and fallback mechanisms for AI-enabled processes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy.
